January

  • 14th Visit from Bob Furness to discuss the aileron mass balance
  • 19th Called Peter Pilbeam in Victoria about undercarriage legs for which he is famous. I have decided to go ahead with Cessna style spring legs as I have seen on a Falconar Jodel
  • 19th Called David Cowley re “fibre” used for cable fairleads he suggested the material cutting boards are made from. I found a suitable material at the hardware shop.
  • 19th Designed a spring undercarriage for Ole Hartmann to put together for me. Olie is an expert on Metal aircraft and aluminium u/c legs.
  • 24th After discussions with Harry Bellott I purchased cable and turnbuckles from Shearwater Marine in Taree

  • 2nd Talk to Phil Goard to see how the engine mount and re-drive are coming along. These will be finished and available at the Recreational Aircraft Association annual fly-in to Narromine at the end of March. I planned to fly to Narromine in the HDFC Club C172.
  • 9th Barney and Lyndal helped to turn the wing over as the top of the wing including wing walk ply is complete

"No Bill, it's not a shed, it's a hangar"

Radiator is Nissan 300ZX not for any reason but because we found one. Aluminium core 6litres fluid. The EJ 22 operates at a pressure of 13lb, the Subaru thermostat which is housed at the bottom of the engoine opens at 78 to 80C. On this basis the top of the engine is likely to reach 100 and continue at this temperature
